Unhappy Any help would be greatly appreciated!

:help: Hi All-

I'm a newbie to this board. I have tons of questions.

Here are my stats:
29 yrs old
6'
150 lbs...slim built and frustrated

taking optimum nutrition--100% whey protein 3x/day

I've been working out the past five years with little progress. Althought I have noticed some muscle growth.....It's been frustrating.

Am I not working hard enough? not eating enough? since one's body can only absorb so much protein, wouldn't eating too much protein would just flush right through one's body and bad for the kidneys?

Granted I'm thin, I can't seem to get rid of the little amount of fat that I have around my waistline. I figured I'm thin and I don't need to do much cardio. Should I do more cardio?

Which leads me to my ultimate question: I have a photoshoot in two months and I really need to get into better shape and put on at least 15 lbs of lean muscle. What do I need to do to achieve that naturally? Some members pointed out that they were able to put on 50 lbs in a 6 months period. If I can just achieve 25 lbs in that time frame.....trust me....I would be the happiest man alive.

Please help.

Hi cal, Nice to meet you.

when I started out a few years back I was 21yrs and 150 lbs.
The first three months i was on super-supplements I gained an almost immediate 25lbs. For me training was never a problem..
thats the easy part, the hardest thing is the nutrition and taking care of yourself. cut out any booz partying etc.

Main thing you need is calories an a shitload of em.
get you a good weightgainer and concentrate on getting in atleast 5-6k cals a day CONSISTANTLEY.
Im not talking about luck charms and pizza rolls either.
Eat good food! Lot of redmeats and chicken- pasta etc

natuarally not many paople Ive ever seen have ever gained
50lbs in 6 months.

Now Ive seen people do it who have been on at one time and
then lost it, yea they can gain it back that fast WITH the rite supplements but naturally I dont think I Myself have seen anyone
gain that much muscle in such a short time.

your best bet is your nutrtion, train hard sticking with heavy
compound movements get plenty of rest. goodluck

Thanks for the responses guys.

In response to Big A.

I normally eat three meals/day mostly lean chicken and fish.

For breakfast, I normally have a bowl of flax cereal and a protein shake. I would have scramble eggs with sandwich meat and toast for breakfast when I have the extra time to prepare.

For lunch ,depending on whether I'm working, my meal varies from a baja fresh buritto to a simple salad with trader joe's soy veggie chicken nuggets.

For dinner, mostly chicken and fish. I tried to minimize my carb intake especially after 6pm when I become less active. I just have a bit of fat around my waist that I just can't seem to get rid of.

Should I cut back on carbs? Maybe I need to do more cardio?

My workout routine is normally three to four days a week but it really depends on my work schedule. When I'm away for work and have no access to a gym, I normally bring with me 35lbs dumbells.

I alternate between upper and lower body workouts. I judge my progress by the growth I see when I look at myself in front of a mirror and how much I weigh, thus I don't keep log book. I don't have a set program that I go by...just kinda do what I feel like when I walk into the gym. Granted I'm already thin, I do very little to no cardio.

Maybe I'm not doing the right exercises and even if I am, maybe I'm not doing them correctly. Should I do cardio to get rid of the little bit of fat around my waist?

I thought about getting a personal trainer, but it's just out of my budget. Besides, I don't even know if they are any good to put in the investment. Too expensive. Ideally, I would like a trainer who would be able to get me into better shape within two months just like a celebrity trainer would get, for example, tom cruise all cut and buff for an action flick in a couple months.

What would you suggest Big A?

you need to eat more meals in the day. never go beyond 3 hours without eating. this will keep your metabolism going, plus you need to keep the body in an anabolic state. remember the more muscle you have the more calories you will burn.
try to do cardio first thing in the morning before eating. moderate intensity will work best for your goals.

its tough to say man i mean when i gained 60lbs in 60 months I lost my six pack and every bodybuilder does at one point to bulk up but if you are looking to gain lean muscle mass not bodybuild. I'd say eat a clean diet a lot of protein and prolly some creatine monohydrate i know my body loves that shit i just started up again with that the bloating and pising so damn much suck but it works. good luck bro any ??? personal message me
