Mine used to be 10.5" then got them up to 20" with a perfect diamond shape and no site shots at all.

I only train them once a week, for 2 sets to failure.

But to get them like that, I used to lie in bed before sleep and flex the calves as hard as I could until they would cramp. Then I would stretch them until the cramp dissapeared and then flex again. I would do that for 1/2hour. The first time you do it you will be sore for days. Then repeat as soon as the soreness dissapears. You will be able to do it every night soon enough.

FYI, calves are a very red muscle group. If you use heavy weights you're only straining your tendons. It was once explained to me like this. If you give a turkey steriods he will swell up and have big breast and legs, but his neck will still be thin. Calf muscles are the same, they grow by pumping blood into them not by using heavy weights. I started a routine several months ago and it works for me.

Use light weight. Standing calf machine. Do 10 reps, rest 10 seconds, do 15 reps, rest 15 seconds, do 20 reps, rest 15 seconds, do 15 reps, rest 10 seconds, do 10 reps. Do two sets like this twice a week or break it up and one set standing the other sitting. Your calves will explode and it doesn't take long.

I know everyone is different, but this works for me. good luck./;

I dissagree. That's all the calves do all day - high reps - when you are walking. You have to stimulate them in a different way to make them grow. I tried the high rep stuff - didn't do anything. I always grow from doing 1 maybe 2 sets of HIT per week, failing in less than 10 reps with heavy weight.

definitely heavy for calf growth....but anyway, I just wanted to point out to you that the seated calf raise works the underlying soleous muscle, not the calves themselves. It's still important but it shouldn't be your main exercise because it's not really hitting your calf muscle that you want to grow.

check it out at http://www.mikementzer.com/

go to tips and read what he has to say about calves, it's good advice and mentions what I just said also.

Peace Guys!

Definetely. Donkeys work the soleus mainly. I try not to do any soleus work as when I used to do it, the measurement of my claves grew but they looked smaller because my ankles looked thicker. As soon as I stopped soleus work, the anles started looking smaller and even though I lost some on the tape, they looked much bigger.

it's an awesome tip that worked very well for me and several other bro's

Calf Training Tip of the Day!!!
This is redundent for those of you who have read it from me before, but here it is anyhow: One of the key elements to developing well-defined Calf Muscles that I feel 90% of people neglect, is to train the Tibialis(sp?) Muscles aka the Shin Muscles. The way I incorporate them into my Calf routine is simple:

Calves

Calf-Presses(45 degree LP)

3 sets of 10, 8, & 6 Reps Pyrimids

Seated-Calf-Raises

2 worksets of 15 reps, super-setted with 2 sets of Reverse-Toe-Raises for the Tibs.

Reverse-Toe-Raises are performed quite simply by placing the Heels onto a block or any edge so that the toes are allowed to hang in front. Let the Toes come down forward as far as they can & then curl them up again towards the Shins. Pause at the top. Do them with a quick rhythym as well. I usually super-set 2 sets of 30 reps before the "burn" gets me!
