I use both, actually... Straps for heavy deads and other heavy pulling exercises, and gloves for pretty much everything else

I use both, also..... as far as "looking like a jerkoff"... WHO CARES IN THE GYM? I don't worry about fashion or impressions in the gym....
I need straps for shrugs, deads, and t-bars... can't grip heavy without them... I think they are a life-saver, myself. I even strap in for chin-ups, so I can get more reps...
As far as gloves...... I just prefer not to have ripped up hands all the time...

I always wear gloves, except on leg days. Sometimes I will use straps, but not very often. I only use them if my forarms feel tired or weak. Later

I wear the straps on the days I need it. As for looking like a jerkoff, who cares what you wear in the gym...you're in there for a purpose and I'm pretty sure it's not for fashion. Personally, I think in order to lift heavy you need straps (or equivalent), but that's just me. Good Luck....

I use straps for heavy deadlifts and some heavy pulls... I don't like gloves but my wife hate me when I catch her panty-hose by my callosities -/

Gloves have NEVER helped prevent callouses on my hands - they only bunch up and get in the way (I used to race motorcycles off-road and my hands were much more calloused than now & amp; I always wore gloves).
I use straps for a lot of lifts/pulls and believe as slide says. Why limit the amount of weight you can use by not being able to "hold on to it?"

I use both, gloves all the time and straps only when I'm doing heavy deads or shrugs.

I wear gloves except during leg day, and use straps for any heavy lifts. Who cares what you look like at the gym. After you grow big, who's gonna say anything to you anyway! (LMAO)

I have used straps for as long as I can remember. They are essential in my lifting. I never have used gloves because the rough hands never bothered me. But I guess there is a point about looking on the girls point of view. I am married -- at least for now -- so I am not holding to many young things anymore.
If you want to wear gloves then do it. Nothing wrong with that. Who cares what others think. Now if you asked me if you should wear a thong bikini. Damn -- then you would get a diff answer. LOL
Lift strong bro.

Gloves. I read thats is't not good to use straps all the time. If your forearms are lagging, and you use straps a lot. Chances are your not helping them grow. The straps take the stress off of them more so then not using them!
But for real heavy lifts, use them!

I wear both. I enjoy the extra wrist support and stabilization I get from gloves sporting the wrist wraps.
I will only use straps on my last two sets of deads, bent over bb rows and bb shrugs, and occasionally on lat pulldowns.
I would rather look like a milo wearing straps with one hell of a lat spread then a "cool guy" with a back like a calvin klein model.
Lets face it your grip will always give out before your back muscles do.
peace,
WCP
