I know the answer to this STOP LIFTING. No, there isn't much one could do besides take advil, aspirin, or alleve and rest it. When the pain goes away maybe rotator cuff exercises could help? Or maybe you are overtraining? If it really bothers go to an ortho doc. Ask at PM, reckon theres lots smurter over that way.

I'd have to agree, take a anti-inflamitory or pain killer and rest it. If no better in a week, go and see a Doc. IMO rotator cuffs are a very week point in many lifts, check your form or have someone else check it for you and most of all make sure it's 100% before you start to train on it again or you may really fuck it up bigtime!

Rotary Cup?? No offense but it is quite funny the names that people come up with for the "Rotator Cuff". In any event, you would need further testing to determine what is causing the rotator cuff pain. More times then not it is due to impingement; especially in lifters. Many times bodybuilders neglect the external rotators since they are not cosmetic muscles. The weakness of these muscles then result in the head of the humerus being unstable and allowed to have excessive motion in the joint resulting in the aforementioned impingement.

Also, everyone has slightly different shaped acromions. Depending on the shape of yours, you may be pre-disposed to these type of problems.

My advice would be to try strengthening the rotator cuff muscles first(lying on your side with elbow at your side flexed to 90 degrees, and then external rotating your shoulders by lifting up towards the ceiling). If that does not help, then see a good ortho doc.

Sorry for the brief response and possible typos but am getting ready to leave for work, UGHHHHH!.

Hmmm, sounds like an impingement syndrome to me. If you have been doing heavy flat barbell pressing for any length of time or have improper alignment during lifting you will develop an impingment in the shoulder (the tendons of the rotator cuff muscles are "impinged" between the head of the humerous and the arch of the acromion) I would go see an ortho doc to have it examined.

I now believe that is has nothing to do with my rotator cuff, and if it is then it's not bad. I feel much better now,, going to wait about a week and see how it is before lifting again...

Also, it could be the way you are sleeping on it?? If you sleep with your arms above your head most of the night, you will develope a stiffness over time. Try to see how you sleep, if you must sleep on your stomach, try keeping your arms at your side.

Hope this helps??
