Tuesday, December 31, 2002 - 3:15 p.m. - CENTENNIAL - A Denver police sergeant has been suspended with pay after allegedly receiving a package of what was believed to be anabolic
steroids.
Thomas Lahey, 36, received the package Thursday, Arapahoe County sheriff's officials said today.
A search warrant executed after Lahey received the package of testosterone ampules resulted in the seizure of 97
syringes with
needles, a
steroid-use schedule, two computers and 15 firearms, along with a substance suspected to be anabolic
steroids, authorities said.
He was released at the scene pending results of the investigation. Test results on the suspected
steroids were pending.
The package Lahey received was addressed to him and was mailed from Great Britain, authorities said. U.S. Customs officials had determined during a random search that the package contained suspected
steroids.
Denver police have launched an internal investigation.
