Contest drug testing

I'm reletively new to the sport of bodybuilding and I was curious about the drug testing at bodybuilding competitions. Lets take the Mr. Olympia for example, all the pros competing at that level are obviously using steroids. So my question is, are the contestestants drug tested and if so how do they manage to pass the tests?

No testing for steorids in the pros. All we get tested for is diuretics, clenbuterol!!! and recreational drugs.

Some of the other shows use a gas plasma test.........the same as the NCAA.....NFL........and other major sports. Also, along with what big a mentioned......I know its true that they get tested for diuretics....but there are ways aroung that as well.

Big A- What is behind the not testing for steroids? They test for cutters and stuff like that - but not steroids? That just blows my mind...not saying they SHOULD test for gear. It just seems like that would be a given in bodybuilding.

I get tested by the NCAA as well bro...........The way i understand it is that the different elements in your urine are measured in concentrations following plasma blasting. I will try to find the website that had information on this. Also, all the ncaa really looks at is your test to estro ratio.......first......if you fail then they plasma test your second urine sample. It all depends on what division and time of year you are tested. In the spring you are only tested for steroids.......not rec drugs......in the fall you are tested for both along with several other dieuretics and pharmaceuticals.

i play a winter sport but when they realy test is the spring right at the final comp and if u fail they take all your team points(u earnd, and take u tittle away) thats more then i realy wantd to say but if u email me ill tell u details Ryanoh1068@ziplip.com

They test for diuretics because pros have died due to them.
Steorids don't kill. Besides, when they did test for steorids in 1990, the pros didn't look like pros anymore.
They also test for rec drugs because too many pros use them because of their weak minds.
I have no idea why clenbuterol is on the list.

Big A I wouldn't have figured that there would be many pros out there using recriational drugs. You mentioned it was because of their weak minds, I figured you had to be a pretty diciplined person to persue a career as a bodybuilder and to compete at the pro level.

Not quite.
You see, a lot of pros come from VERY poor backgrounds. So the small amount of money they make seems like a lot to them. Add to that the bit of fame they get, it's exactly like young actors that suddenly discover fame. Rec drugs come into the picture in a big way and a lot of them waste their days being wasted. Also, due ot that, some of them now like to diet on cocaine... Plus don't forget all the garbage like Nubain, etc.

wow i had never seen so many pros on rec drugs in my life until last week..... lost alot of respect for well a former mr olympia.. im no saint but i not a x head either thank my lucky stars for my faith in christ!!!!!!!
