Question What physical traits did you get from your father/grandfather?

I was looking through some old family photos last night and got to thinking about gene's and what I got from who. I got my height and shoulder width from my grandfather/uncles, they're all tall, large framed farm boys who played d-line in college. I got my small joints and bones from my father (got his jumbo hands and knuckles though). Kind of strange that all my uncles are big 300lb guys, but he's always been 170ish. I was trying to figure out where my musculature came from when I remembered it was my MOM! Yes, I got my bodybuilding genes from my mother. When I was a little kid I remember when my mom started going to the gym and "doing Naulitus", after a couple weeks she got freak'n large and had legit biceps and triceps! I can remember seeing her curl 110lbs on some old Naulitus machine while I was reading an old issue of Muscular Development. Then she started a new business and her gym days were over.

N E Wayz, here's what I came up with, just curious about what you guy's came up with;

Height/Width -- Grandfather/uncles on father's side
Bone/Joints -- Father
Metabolism/Propensity for Muscle Growth -- Mother

I got my laegs and calves from my dad. Skinny arms (comparatevily) from him too. Shoulder width from my mum. Height wise I am exactly between them two. My facial features from my dad's sister.

Come to think of it, both my mom and father have long full calves so I can't say which I have.

I think it's interesting to see how you're born with some traits from "here" and some from "there". Throw in a bunch of this, and a bunch of that, and some more of this....you never know what will come out. lol. I could just imagine if I'd come out more like my grandfather, instead of a low level NPC bodybuilder I could be playing for the Buc's or Cowboys making a few hundred K's a year. Ha Ha, stuck with being better than the average Joe I suppose. /t\

Humm, this is what i got:

Biceps: Dad...DENSE as hell. Naturally big Bi's. Easy to train. Hell, my old man still has some guns!

Triceps: (What triceps? LOL) I think i was robbed of them at birth! Must have came from my mom.

Forearms: Neither of them. Years of spanking it as a young kid. LOL /t\

Shoulders: My mom. Need more width!!

Ribcage: Not a clue. Must be mom. Small ribcage.

Abs: Neither of them. I still have a 6 pack all year round. Can get 8 if i deit down hard enough.

Back: My dad. We both have very well defined backs.

Quads & hams: Got a mix of both. EXCELLENT muscle fibers. Fast twitch /;

Calves: 1/2 of my dad. Shapped a lil different though.

Height: That is a mix of both. Moms side is all REALLY tall. Dad's side is all short. I got stuck in the middle.

do you guys ever analyze the ladies for their genetics, and wonder what kind of baby your genetics and someone elses would produce?

All the time. Friends think I'm freak'n nuts. My girl's got some mondo matarazzo-style calves and decend shoulder width. I'm picturing a baby Levrone/Bolo Yeung mix, lol.

interesting thread.

My dads family is short and stocky. my grandpa has huge calves. so that was probably the base.

my dad - big ass calves, big quads, wide shoulders
also very strong

my mom- good muscle development. small bone structure

I remember watching my mom working with her horses and her little bi's and tri's were ripped.

so it breaks down like this:
grandparents - I am 5'9" so I got their short genes
dad- quad devlopment, wide shoulders
mom- small bones and small waist

I missed my dad's calves although they are still pretty good.
I can put muscle on fairly easy and get lean easy also.

I'm geneticlly doomed on both sides as far as my legs and calves go and To compound the problem, I got my Dad's large chest and shoulders (not nessecarilly a bad thing, just makes me look out of proportion). everyone says I have my mom's facial features, but one pluse is that I have my Dad's hair genetics (he's 65 and still has all his hair).

I didn't get anything from anyone in my family. They're all fat...medium height....small bone structure. I'm 6'3.5", 275, less than 12% bf with wide ass shoulders and a fairly small waist for my size (36). I'm a big thick monster and my family is just like a bunch of humpty dumpties. I know if my kid comes out looking like a mix of me and my girl then he/she's going to be an awesome bodybuilder...just a little too tall. My girl is 6' even, perfect legs, ass, back and shoulders. A little small chested, but still not bad. She has a really high metabolism too because she can eat damn nachos and cheese followed by cake and ice cream all day long and she still stays pretty thin. She dances, so she does work it all off. My kids are going to be introduced to good nutritional habits from day one....but I'm not going to push them into any sports or bodybuilding...but if they do decide to go that way...then they will be set. I wish my parents would have had me eat cleaner as a kid...it was a pain in the ass trying to drop out refined sugars and greasy fats from my food intake...and all those damn sodas.

I hear you there, I am very similar. Im 6'6'' 285 at around 10%BF. All of my parents and grandparents are short fat people. I have a 38'' waist and very wide shoulders....Suit size is a 58 chest. I think you can somehow change the trend if you stay the fuck off the couch and do something with your body. I dont know how i got my size other than drinking badger milk and doing AS. It sure as hell isnt my parents or my grandparents.
