BigA? slin: first time
sunday was my first time. everything went well. my experience was this. 5iu's after workout. drank 1/2 XXL drink ate 2 rice cakes, felt weird for first 10 min. then at 45 min hands got sweaty for just a couple of min. exactly 1and 1/2 hrs after shot started to feel shakes coming on. ate 3 rice cakes with jam, immediatley felt better 1/2 hr later ate 2 pieces of chkn some potatoes no other issues.
will continue at 5 iu's this week then go to 8 iu's only after workouts. days not working out will keep my carbs minimal.
would slin be good to bridge with??? i am cleaning out the month of sept before my precontest bulk cycle. I want to keep the fullness i feel just from 2 days worth of slin.

Did your XXL shake have carbs? You have to be sure you get at least 10g of carbs per iu. And you shouldn't feel any effects of hypo. That means you didn't take in enough carbs. You should feel normal while on slin!! Next time, try upping your carb intake.
Slin is ok to bridge with, but I prefer to use it during a cycle.

The shakes will go away after a week. What you experienced was mild hypoglycemia, nothing to worry about. It's fine to bridge with, helps keep a lot of m.mass. Don't go overboard on carbs thinking you need 10g per iu, that's an old rule of thumb. You'd be suprised at how little carb's you actually need to keep your bloodsugar stable.

OF COURSE the XXL drink had carbs!!! am a newbie to slin but not nutrition etc. If you will read my post again I did not go hypo and it seems that instead of two hours for peak it was about 1 and 1/2 hrs.
by the way markus is huge

You may not have gone full blown hypo, but those are signes of hypo. Its not a big deal but this is how you learn your body. Some people need more carbs than others. It all depends on how sensitive you are to insulin. So this time you felt a bit shakey in the hands, next time try upping your carbs a bit and see if you still feel it. Just keep making small adjustments and you will be tuned right into how your body reacts. /t\

Nah, I say do exactly what you did above. Only instead of the rice cakes, drink a 2 scoop protein shake mixed 50/50 with milk/H20 and add a teaspoon of sugar.

I believe that with insulin, you should take as much as you can handle, as th emore you take the more, quicker results you will see. To be safe, I always recomend that you start with at least 10IU and 10g of glucose per 1IU. Keep increasing the insulin by 2IU every time, until you will get into hypo even if you take 10g glucose/IU. That is your limit. I found my limit is 15IU/shot.
Then, each consecutive shot, reduce the amount of carbs that you take in, by1g per IU. For example, second shot after you found your limit, take 9g/IU, and so on. I found my limit is at 7g/IU. You will know your limit as you start getting the hypo symptoms earlier.
The reason why you went in hypo after 1 1/2 hours later not 2 1/2 hours, is because you didn't have enough carbs in your system.
It's all experimental, until you find what your body likes. The way I just said it is the safest way to find your limit.
Also, I strongly suggest using metformin (glucophage) in the days that you don't train so you can keep your insulin receptors fresh.

Is there a best time to take glucophage. Im sure you covered it previously but in my SEARCH I probably skimmed over and missed it? How's everything going BTW? Back in the gym yet.

Personally I liked to use metformin in the AM and pre-training.

|--[\\\\]>------- I usually go 10iu's in the am and 11 iu's post. In the am, i shot the 'slin, drink a glass of grape juice, then wait until i get the slightest of shakes and then i down a HUGE meal with carbs and protein...then i cont. to eat cont. every 1.5 hours. After that initial 'pre-shake' i make sure i don't go into hypo anymore throughout the day. After my workout, i drink a carbo-force and get home and pound the food all nite. I also try not to take that last shot too late at nite....need to make sure i'm getting enuff food in b4 i go to sleep.

No, it's not OTC, but it's not hard to obtain either. There are a lot of online pharmacies that carry it and don't require a script.
