I normally run a 7 day cycle with 200 for3 days and 400 for 4. I have carb depleted 3 days prior and I lost 11 pounds. I have also done it without carb depleteing prior to the cycle and I lost 8 pounds. If 3 pounds is worth a 2 and a half day carb depletion diet to you, then by all means do it, but I'll just eat normal and feel good and lose my 8 pounds. The reasoning behind the carb depletion method is to get your body accustomed to using stored fat for energy. you deplete for 2 and a half days, and then on the afternoon of the 3rd day you have a huge carb meal to refill your glycogen stores before you go on the DNP. Then you start your DNP on the 4th day. You run it for 7 days at doses that you would use it at (people are different). While you're on you keep your carbs fairly low (less than 1g per pound of LBM), but you make sure your carb intake is almost completely fruit. Then after the 7 days of being on you carb load for 3 days before returning to a normal diet. I always record my weight after I've been off for 5 days because I feel that it is more representable of the fat you lost because your body has cleared out the extra water by then.
