Does t-3 effect strength?

Recently I had some blood work done and it was discovered that my thyroid is not up to par. Dr. wanted give me a script for some cytomel but I was affraid it would kill my strength. Does anyone know if it would have this effect?

It won't affect your strength levels at the dosage the doc will prescribe. Hell, it never killed my strength at 250mcg/day. Let the doc fix you up, it's no big deal.

Yeah, you guys are right. I don't know what I get worried about. My girl takes them and everytime I turn around she gets stronger and stronger.

I tell ya, it really surprised me when the Dr. gave me the news about my thyroid. I would never of suspected that I had a problem.

PB, what were you taking it for?

I was just taking it for weightloss. At 250mcg/day I lost 22lbs in 5wks without dieting. It really works if you want to shed some lbs. However, at theraputic doses it won't cause that kind of weightloss.

I wouldn't mind sheding a few pounds. The Dr. said that due to my thyroid not working right that it might be throwing my other numbers around. For instance, my tryglicerides are through the roof and my good cholesterol was wicked low.

He put me on a low carb diet and had me double my protien intake. My numbers have gotten better but I'm not there yet. He realizes that I compete and is trying to work around what I do.

I was concerned that it would kill my strength. I know that you would lose a little from the weight loss. Did you notice a dramatic loss of strength PB?

No dramatic loss in strength. It does take some getting used to though. The elevated triclycerides are most likely from too my carbs in the diet. The low hdl is from using the orals like dbol. You can aslo add fish oil caps to help raise hdl levels.

250mcg/day? Jesus Christ! No wonder you lost strength! Ramping T3 from 25-100 and back down over 8 weeks is really all you need to lose fat weight fast. Anything more is just asking to lose muscle...which means losing strength in my experience. I've gone up to 125 and felt like I was shrinking muscle in a week.

You miss read my statement. I did not really suffer a loss in strength at 250mcg/day. I also don't do much tapering at the beginning starting at 75mcg/day and adding 25mcg/day each day until I hit 250mcg/day. At the end I just stop taking it, no taper. I have suffered no I'll effects from doing this. I weigh over 300lbs all of the time and I'm no stranger to high doses of anything.

PB and priest943, thanks for the info and the reassurance. I have another dr. appointment in a couple of weeks and I'll let him know that I want to try it.
