Cort as you should no is a bad 'roid. Don't do it if you can. Prolotherapy is when you inject a proliferent (an irritent) into the joint. It does just the oppisite of cort.
It didn't make sence to me at first but I researched it. The prolo shot is made of sugar. Anyway, what it does is cause swelling in the injection point (your joint). Along with swelling comes blood flow. With blood flow comes healing. Think about it! If you get a cut on your arm or leg or else where, what does your body do? It swells where you are injured! Your body is increasing the blood flow to that point thus inceasing the healing. It made perfect sence to me.
Now in the joint areas there is not much blood flow. The
veins just don't go there. So to incease the blood flow you inject a proliferent. Don't just go out and do this yourself! After my research I found a doctor under Pain Management. BTW - this has been around since Hipocreates but at that time they used red hot pokers!
I sure wish I knew about this sooner than I did. It wouldn't have kept my out of the gym for so long. Also, average amout of shots are 4-6 and that's every two weeks. The shots hurt like hell and you are very sore for two days after but I think it was worth it. I'm now back in the gym working out. I just have to be more careful from now on.
