how does dmso help injuries, and how is it applied to injuries. can someone give me a rundown?

I'll give you a bump. I hate DMSO. I can't imagine putting that foul smelling crap on me again. But, maybe others can enlighten you.

I use DMSO gel with "aspercreme" or DMSO liquid with "cool and fit". I mix them together so the DMSO transports the other agent into the injured area. I've been using it on and off for 20 years.
