Like SM said, stick primarily w/complex carbs. Some simple carbs post training is o.k. as a way to restore spent muscle glycogen. You want to reduce carb intake while cutting, but you don't want to cut too deeply, unless, as SM suggested, you are carb depleting the last few days before a show. You need a certain number of carbs just to support brain function. Also, you have to worry about super compensation after an extremely low carb regimen when you once again start adding higher carbs to your diet. It's important to keep
protein intake high during this period and fat intake low. Fatty fish, omega 3s, and essential fatty acids should make up the bulk of your fat intake. Back to carbs, alot of guys have seen success cycling low carb and high carb days. With carbs, the amount (enough, but not too much), the type (mostly complex), and the timing (early day) is critical.
