injecting
I've notice that all of you guy all talk about pulling back on the needle (aspirating), but I've talked to my doc and says theres no need for that, he told me that when he inject all he does is penetrates and injects, so why do you guys (aspirate) do this?

This is really a "newbie" topic. I wish people would research the boards before posting crap like this. Some newbie, who's scared shitless of injecting anyway, is gonna see this and think he doesn't need to aspirate.
Then when he injects into a vein and gets the COUGH (if that's all he gets away with), he'll have you to thank.
Did you ask your doctor about injecting the type of steroids we use or just injections in general????

dont loose sleep over it, most nurses and docs i have asked agree that in certain areas of the upper glute the chances are very very, almost non-existant that you will hit a vein. but the newbies may not shoot in the exact 'right' area. thats where the problem is. if you know where to place your hand, spread the fingers and find the right spot, your pretty much cool. most nurses n docs will not, as your doc said, aspirate in that area. then again, they know exactly where to inject. so don't feal bad man, you just posted what you were told. but, ALL newbies NEED to aspirate!

For years I've been injecting quads, glutes and delts. Until just a recent incident, the ONLY place I've drawn blood is IN THE GLUTE (this is after years of doing this!).
Just food for thought for those that feel invincible! :1book:

I have to agree do aspirate. Sometimes I do not do as I should but then I think about for a split second and say that was stupid.

Jeezus Sally!!
Its like this folks.
You dont have to look both ways before crossing the freakin road either. Alot of the times you may get away with making a clean crossing.
But the time and effort involved is not that substantial.
If your gonna play in the street look both ways, fool.
Use new pins, clean with alcohol, aspirate and dont end up in the hospital making headlines and jackin up the price of test for the rest of us!
