I wouldn't get too shook up. The U.S. has had an all volunteer military for over 25 years. I don't expect this skirmish in the middle east to change that. When I was in the Army in the 80s, the U.S. was militarily capable of fighting 2 wars at once. Though it's my understanding that some of our capabilities were cut in the 90s. I remember when Iran and Iraq were going toe to toe, Isreal was bombing reactors in Iraq, the Soviets (Russians, for my younger bros in here) were in Afghanistan, the cold war was in full swing, the U.S. and the U.S.S.R. were poised to nuke each other, the Soviets were tyying to gain a foot hold in Central and South America, marines were being killed by suicide bombers in Lebanon, Soldiers were dying in night club bombings in germany courtesy of libya, we were fighting cubans in Grenada, bombing Libya, invading Panama. In comes the 90's and we're watching the evil Soviet empire fall and we watched further as all out war, rebellion, ethnic cleansing, etc., break out all over the former Soviet state, we see the gulf war, we see U.S. forces deployed to Bosnia, Somlia, Haiti, you name it. We see the Soviet nuclear stock pile diminsh while lesser military powers all of sudden become a nuclear power. Coincidence. Hell no! Recently, we've had the w.t.c. tragedy, the combat in Afghanistan and a war on terror. Guess what? We remained an all volunteer military through it all. I just think it's a tad premature for america's youth to $hit themselves. Isreal dishing out some long overdue justice on Arafat will bring about all out war in the mid east, sure, but, they been there before. I doubt it will bring about the involuntary induction of people into the U.S. military. The kids won't have to trade in their XXXXXXXXXL pants that they love to wear nowadays for BDUs. Not unless they want to.

Dude I believe a read your post at another board. I can tell either your just trying to get a laugh or your a fucking idot. Dude please watch the news or read the newpaper. Your not scaring anyone. There will never be another draft you stupid son-of-a-bitch. There are plenty of troops to do the ground work the US and its allies are planing on doing. But this is not 1942 or 1963. we do not walk into a place and just get killed. Technology has developed. We will fly over them and destroy what needs to be destroyed or setting out in the ocean and bombing them from boats. our ground troops can not destroy what our bombs can destroy. Plus we are in the United Nations now so if we do fight about 180 other countries are on our side giving troops and supplies. Please do some research before you try to be a smart ass.

I'm in the reserves right now. I'm not scared of a war, but that is not the reason for my reply. This same guy posted this shit at another board, It is off the topic and there is going to be no draft. I know how our military works now. We will never fight a war like vm. or wwII. We do not send thousands of troops to get slaugtered . If you were in the military you would probably cuss this fag worse then me. Anyway sorry If I offended anyone else. This is a stupid post on this board, go and talk about it somewhere else. this board is for fitness. I could go on forever about this subject.

Hey bro,

I could probably go on and on about the US, Israel, and Arafat. I really don't know where to begin. The US wants "peace in the middle east" however, as I'm sure you may know, there really has never been peace there. The US and Israel are allies and the US is taking the stance that Israel has the right to protect itself from these terrorist attacks. Many middle eastern countries are blaming the US for not getting further involved by telling Israel to stop their retaliations to the terrorist attacks. Furthermore, those countries are angry that the US is stating that Arafat can do more to stop "his people's" attacks on Israel, while the US condones Israel's retaliation "in order to protect their people."

There is definitely more to this, but this is the "meat" of what is happening at the moment. I hope this info helped and didn't confuse anybody more...

I'm a Sgt in the Marine Corps and you didn't see me call anybody any unnecessary names. I say unnecessary because there is very little one can do behind a keyboard and screen. Instead of calling names and the like, offer help and leave it that. Don't take this as a "flame" but, more as an example of how to represent yourself, no matter what and where, particularly if you are a member of the Armed Forces.

The reason I like this board and the members is because it is like a brotherhood. Maybe the post didn't belong on the main board, but somebody felt strong enough about it and (maybe) wanted to learn something so they posted it there. If you don't like it, just hit the back button and forget about it and move on. Don't sweat the petty and pet the sweaty! Take care, bro!
